Electricity in Murfreesboro

For now, electric service is provided by Murfreesboro Electric Department and Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation.

MED is owned and operated by the city of Murfreesboro. You will be required to pay a deposit of at least $300 to activate an account.

MTEMC requires up to a $300 deposit in cash, money order, electronic check, or credit/debit card from residential applicants depending upon a credit evaluation through a third-party source.

MTEMC is also offering fiber internet to some surrounding communities through United Communications.

Water in Murfreesboro

Like electricity, water service is divided between two providers, Murfreesboro Water Resources Department and Consolidated Utility District. Murfreesboro Water Resources requires a $40 non-refundable service fee will be applied to all new/transferred service requests. The fee can be paid in the office or applied to your first bill.

MWRD also manages the city's sewer system.

CUD requires one-time non-refundable $50 administrative fee will be included on the first water bill.

Drinking water from both services meet or exceed all Federal and State requirements for safe drinking.
