After she struck a tree on North Thompson Lane and the responding officer found her partially clothed, a 27-year-old woman stands accused of driving under the influence as she went to pick up her children, according to an arrest report from the Murfreesboro Police Department.

On Thursday morning, March 29, Annie Taylor of Murfreesboro first skidded off North Thompson Lane and struck a tree near Gateway Village, the report said.

When confronted by witnesses, she said "she could not stay, she had to go pick up her children."

And she left the scene.

She only made it as far as Gateway Boulevard before she was stopped by an MPD officer.

Taylor was found in the driver's seat, wearing only a shirt and underwear and smelling of alcohol, the officer reported.

To top it off, there was still part of the tree stuck underneath her vehicle, the report said.

Taylor told the officer she had not drank any alcohol but she has a prescription for Xanax.

At first, she agreed to perform field sobriety test but refused to cooperate after she got out of her vehicle.

Taylor was taken to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where a search warrant for her blood was executed.

She was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and several other crimes pending the results of the blood test.

No word on if anyone picked up the kids.

Woman orders cake, passes out in drive-thru

In a separate incident, a 34-year-old woman was arrested after falling asleep in the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant on South Church Street around 1 p.m. March 29.

According to a police report, Christy Sheppard of Shelbyville stopped by McDonald's "to order a birthday cake," she told police.

But she fell asleep at the drive-thru window, prompting management to call the police.

The responding officer reported that Sheppard was "moving slowly" and "had slurred speech."

She reportedly failed field sobriety tests and the officer reported finding heroin and methamphetamine in her vehicle.

The officer also noted that her driver's license is "revoked indefinitely in Tennessee."

She was booked into the county jail where she remains in custody.
