Tasty Table

Tasty Table and Olive Branch Bakery have joined forces on North Church Street.

Tasty Table has relocated from its Medical Center Parkway location to the former B.McNeel's building at 215 N. Church St. The restaurant and caterer will be serving breakfast, lunch and desserts, along with a coffee bar.

In March 2018, B.McNeel's Restaurant announced on its Facebook page that it was to rebrand as The Lunchroom at B.McNeel's.

B.McNeel's was opened in 2001 by Barbara Thomas as a meat-and-three with a chef-driven menu featuring local favorites. The menu of Southern comfort foods included a lunch with fried chicken, okra, sweet potatoes, catfish, cheese grits and more.

Apparently, the rebranding didn't work.

Veteran caterer and Taste Table owner Laura Gossett has described the restaurant as a gourmet meat-and-three in a laid-back atmosphere.

The desserts will be provided by Olive Branch Bakery, which will share the space with Tasty Table.

With the addition of Olive Branch Bakery and Nonie's Bakery, this brings the grand total of bakeries in downtown to four with the opening.

Nonie's opened at the beginning of the year at 115 N. Maple St. on the Square.

Owner Cindy Marshall brings more than 30 years of baking experience with her as she owned a bakery in Arkansas before moving to Murfreesboro, according to Nancy DeGennaro from the DNJ.

Nonie's offers a full line of pastries, muffins, cakes and cookies.

Marshall hopes to set herself apart with a create-your-own cupcake. Customers can pick their cakes flavor, frosting and up to two toppings.

Olive Branch and Nonie's join Simply Pure Sweets and Boro Town Cakes (not counting BTC Too on Lytle Street)I have it on good authority that Simple Pure Sweets will have an exciting announcement in the next month or so. Keep an eye out.

What's critical mass for bakeries within a two-blocks radius? I guess we will find out in the next few months.

Dog Haus goes 'Beyond Meat'

Sooo Veggie with Beyond Sausage Hot Italian

On Monday, Jan. 28, Dog Haus will give away free Beyond Meat sausages – in two gourmet variations - from their new plant-based menu to the first 50 customers who order a Beyond Meat item, at all 30+ locations nationwide.

These 50 lucky guests will have their choice of the Beyond Brat with Beyond Sausage Bratwurst, sauerkraut, caramelized onions and spicy brown mustard, and Sooo Veggie with Beyond Sausage Hot Italian, wild arugula, avocado, tomato, crispy onions and spicy basil aioli, both served on King's Hawaiian rolls.

These Beyond Meat menu items were recently added to the Dog Haus menu, with the expansion of their plant-based offerings. Sharing photos below – these sausages are bound to sell out fast.

The mall gets crabs

According to the DNJ, Louisiana Seafood will be opening soon at Stones River Town Centre (aka, the mall).

California-based Crab Fever plans to open in the space formerly home to Applebee's.

According to its website, the restaurant serves low-country boil staples like shrimp, crawfish, clams, mussels, corn on the cob, potatoes and sausage alongside a raw bar, crab legs, oysters, sliders, salads and desserts.

Also at the mall, Miller's Ale House opened last week in the former TGIFridays.

The Florida-born chain is a casual sports restaurant with freshly made food that has locations in Franklin and Chattanooga.
