Murfreesboro Mama: Where to sip, dine, and fly for Valentine's Day

"Roots and Wings" hard cider by Morning Glory Orchard

My husband and I have been married for 10 years, and we're at that stage in life when many of our friends are okay with NOT celebrating Valentines Day.

I think that's fine. After all, Hallmark already took our money and expectations over Christmas.

Even so, I think the nudge to do something a little extra in the dead of winter and not-to-mention month 24 of a pandemic isn't a bad idea. Case in point: my husband brought me flowers after our whole family had Covid in January. I say if you've made it out alive-- physically and emotionally--celebrate each other, y'all. So whether it's for Valentines, Galentines, or just a chance to say "I love you even though it's been bitterly cold we're in and the second year of a global  health crisis," check out these specials around town for you and your loved ones this week.

Sip

Morning Glory Orchard in Nolensville has popped the top on their own "Roots and Wings" hard cider, made with apples from their orchards, for sale and are offering special Valentines packages complete with stemless glasses and  apple caramels. Share them... or not. (Orders must be placed by February 11).

Big Creek Tasting Room in Christiana (across from Miller's Cafe) is offering 10% off wines this week (add one to a gift basket of their selected gourmet foods and gifts!)

Arrington Vineyards opens up their pavillion and hillside stages this weekend for couples and families can soak up live jazz, order bites from Simply Living Life and the elevated pantries onsite, and taste an array of favorite vintages.

Just Love Coffee shows the love to coffee drinkers this month with its chocolately Valentine's Blend for purchase.

Red Bicycle Murfreesboro pours "Love Lattes" this month with raspeberry and chocolate syrupes. Pairs well with that Leslie Knope-inspired brunch with the girls.

Dine

Five Senses will dish a special couple's night on Monday for $120. Includes three courses, including options for their signature filet mignon and chocolate torte. Sister establishment Steakhouse Five follows suite with its own variations including their famous New York strip and creme brulee.

Smyrna's La Tavola offers couples two Pastas, one bottle of wine, and a dessert for $100;  a 14 inch heart shaped pizza, one dessert, and a bottle of wine for $50. Choose from homemade red velvet cake, cheesecake with strawberry topping, or chocolate covered strawberries.

Fly

Take your celebration up notch by taking up Murfreesboro Aviation on their creative spin on the holiday: a romantic flight over Downtown Nashville, with complementary wine and chocolates. Available February 11-15. Find info and purchase tickets here.
