News of the Week: Murfreesboro assistant city manager hired by Tullahoma

We've lost Jennifer Moody to Tullahoma of all places.

The Tullahoma News reported Wednesday that Moody will be the next city manager in Tullahoma.

Moody has served as Murfreesboro assistant city manager for the last three years, during which time she has been instrumental in several land use studies that will pave the way for continued economic development.

Just so you know what kind of talent we are losing. Moody as a bachelor's degree in international affairs from Xavier University and a masters in public affairs with concentrations in public finance, economic development and policy.

“She’s a very impressive young lady,” Tullahoma Mayor Lane Curlee said. “I think she’ll set a good example of getting more young females involved in community leadership.”

Yes, she is an impressive lady. Too bad Murfreesboro can't set her up as an example for girls in our community.

It's also a shame that Murfreesboro decided a middle-aged man with no experience is a better candidate to run the fifth largest city in the state; not the woman with actual education and experience.

Murfreesboro traffic developments

After a deadly motorcycle crash, the city of Murfreesboro plans to lower the speed limit on West Northfield Boulevard.

According to the Murfreesboro Post, the city's precautions include lowering the speed limit to 35 MPH this week and laying "skid resistant" pavement in August on the curve near Tudor Place.

The city also plans to add two traffic lights on Memorial Boulevard at Kings Ridge Drive and nearby Eleanor Way, according to The DNJ. Developers have agreed to pay $200,000 to the city for the new lights.

See the map below for the sites of future traffic jams.
