BEP Mini-Masters is more like Caddyshack than Augusta

Set to a '70s disco soundtrack and held inside the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, the Business Education Partnership Foundation held its most successful BEP Mini Masters Indoor Golf Tournament yet, raising more than $12,000 for its programs in a quick round of afternoon putt-putt.

“We are grateful for the continued support of Bridgestone and the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund, as well as the support of each of our sponsors and players. Proceeds from the BEP Mini Masters will help ensure that BEP continues to offer exceptional learning experiences for students in the public schools of Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, and Eagleville," BEP Executive Director Amelia Bozeman said.

The BEP Mini Masters is a tongue in cheek tribute to the Masters Tournament on a putt-putt scale, with hints of Caddyshack thrown in for even more fun.

The event even featured foods inspired by the concessions menu of the actual Masters Tournament held each spring in Augusta, Georgia. Steel Barrel Brewery served as beverage sponsor for the event.

Each of the 18 golf holes featured its own theme designed by the holes’ sponsors, whose creativity and competitive streaks were sparked by the golf hole design contest. Murfreesboro Electric Department won the trophy for best golf hole design; the MED hole featured a miniature transformer that illuminated the green when the ball reached the hole.

The Krispy Kreme team won the tournament, walking away with tickets to BEP’s upcoming ‘Boro Bites and Brews festival as well as first place trophies and, most importantly, bragging rights.

“Many thanks go to our board of directors, our advisory board, our volunteers, and BEP Mini Masters event chair Tara Stone for helping make this event such a success.  We are delighted to offer this unique event, and we are excited to watch it grow each year,” Bozeman said.

The Business Education Partnership (BEP) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1988 with the help of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce. The BEP states as its mission:  “To foster interest in and to promote and support programs in public schools of the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County that will prepare students for the business world.”
