A 47-year-old man was arrested after drunkenly trying to break into his neighbor's home, according to an MPD arrest report.
Scott M. Burley, 47, of 1019 Leaf Ave., is accused of trying break into 1005 Greenland Drive on Friday night, March 2.
The Greenland Drive residents called police after a man, identified as Burley, tried to force his way through the front and then backdoor of their house.
The victims told police they feared a burglar so they armed themselves with a gun and told Burley to leave. They didn't get the reaction they expected.
"I don't care. Let me in the house," Burley reportedly yelled.
The victims said they don't know who Burley is or why he wanted in their house.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found Burley laying in the backyard of 1005 Greenland Drive. Burley told the officers he lives a couple blocks away at 1019 Leaf Ave. and that "he had too much to drink."
As officers spoke with him, he made a few gestures the officers found threatening so they placed him in handcuffs. When they tried to place him in the police car, he resisted by "stiffening his legs and making it difficult to escort him to the car."
Burley was charged with public intoxication, vandalism for damage to the door, trespassing and resisting arrest.
Maybe he needed a cigarette
On March 3, a worker and manager at a local fast food joint came to blows after the manager told the employee to stop taking smoke breaks during rush, according to an incident report.
The manager said the employee assaulted him in the restaurant by grabbing him by the throat and "punching him in the face 10-15 times," the report said. The manager was visibly injured with finger marks on his neck and cuts on his face.
The assailant fled the scene before police arrived. Warrants for his arrest were issued.
