Murfreesboro Fire dept. promotes 2 engineers

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department recently promoted two firefighters to the position of engineer, the city announced in a press release.

Joshua Jackson and Jamie Layhew reported to their new assignments last week.

“We are proud of these two gentlemen and are confident that they will excel in their new positions,” said Fire Rescue Chief Mark Foulks.

Meet the New Engineers

Joshua Jackson

Joshua Jackson began his career with MFRD in October 2006. Jackson is an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and holds certifications as a Fire Instructor I and Swiftwater, Rope Rescue, and Confined Space Rescue Technician.

He is married to Lacey. During his time off, he enjoys riding horses and farming.

Jamie Layhew

Jamie Layhew has been with MFRD since March 2012. He is an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and is also a certified Fire Instructor I and Swiftwater and Rope Rescue Technician.  

He and wife Amber have three kids: Emerson, Maeci, and Hudson. When he’s not at work, he spends time hunting, fishing, and being with his family.

Both Jackson and Layhew are excited to embark on this new adventure.
