Prevention Works! Prevention Coalition for Success

Prevention Coalition for Success is participating in the “19 Days of Activism for the Prevention of Abuse and Violence Against Children and Youth” because this campaign is designed to promote awareness and education to end violence and abuse against children. The mission of Prevention Coalition for Success is to reduce substance abuse and violent crime in Rutherford County.

Substance misuse and child abuse are closely linked. Children who are exposed to or living in an environment where there is substance misuse are at greater risk of experiencing abuse or neglect. These risks may have increased due to the COVID-19 epidemic. Social isolation and economic downturns are factors that have increased mental health concerns in youth and adults.

Prevention Coalition for Success works to prevent substance misuse and to build a healthy community. Our activities include promotion of proper disposal of prescription drugs, training sessions to build skills in Rutherford County to prevent substance misuse, and educational activities to support healthy youth. To create community change and to achieve these goals, we rely on our valued coalition members and community partners.

Thank you to our partner, the Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford and Cannon Counties, for protecting victims of child abuse and for inviting Prevention Coalition for Success to be part of the “19 Days of Activism for the Prevention of Abuse and Violence Against Children and Youth.”

All are welcome to attend our coalition meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. through online Zoom meetings. For more information including upcoming events, visit our website at PC4S.org, the Prevention Coalition for Success Facebook page.
