Murfreesboro runners started the New Year off on the right foot (or maybe the left) at the 2019 New Year's Day 5K. 

The family friendly run took place at Old Fort Park and on the Murfreesboro Stones River Greenway System. 

The run offered a surprise for runner Tiffany Smith. Her boyfriend, Josha Crutchfield, proposed to her after they finished the run. She said yes and was congratulated by friends and other runners.

The event is part of Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland's Better Boro Project initiative.
