Murfreesboro's National Night Out was held Aug. 7 at Patterson Park.

National Night Out was started to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and community-police relationships.

In 2018, the families of the five gunshot victims and other victims of crime were honored at the Murfreesboro event, according to WKRN.
