An open house was held Wednesday afternoon, April 25 for the recently completed Rutherford County Judicial Center in downtown Murfreesboro.

After two years and $73 million, the state-of-the-art building is finally completed and the public was invited to view what they paid for.

The new building starts below ground with a basement parking lot and sally port (so inmates don't have to be unloaded on a sidewalk anymore). In addition to a grand lobby, the first floor holds Grand Jury and jury assembly rooms and an office for the Circuit Court Clerk.

The second floor is for General Sessions Court where misdemeanors are heard.

The third floor is mostly for the district attorney and public defender with an additional General Sessions courtroom.

The fourth floor is being left empty for future growth.

The fifth floor houses the clerk and master, along with the chancery court.

The sixth and top floor is for the county's Circuit Courts.
