News of the Week: All in One Recycling responds to complaints

The owner of beleaguered company All in One Recycling has shut off automated billing to customers as it struggles to get it trucks fixed, Jeremy Harrison told The Daily News Journal.

He also pledged to not cash checks from customers until pickups start again.

Harrison told the DNJ he has issued nearly $30,000 in refunds over the past three months and that the company's trucks have been down for about four weeks.

RCS Board plans superintendent interviews in March

During a special-called meeting, the Rutherford County School Board approved a plan to hire a new superintendent to succeed Don Odom, The Murfreesboro Post reported.

The board agreed to the following schedule:

• Feb. 23: Application deadline

• March 5: Candidates will be presented to the board

• March 12: Individual interviews.

The process will cost the county $6,500.

Odom will retire June 30. The board hopes the next superintendent will be able to job shadow him.

Rutherford County's economy is booming, Chamber says

According to the Chamber of Commerce, Rutherford County added 1,523 jobs in 2017. The county also saw $389 million in Chamber-approved capital investments.

"The 2017 numbers continue a positive growth (trajectory) in our county," Chamber President Paul Latture said in an article in the DNJ about Business at its Best. "It's a great indicator of the things we have to offer here."

The county also saw a $15 million increase in the economic impact from tourism. Vistors added $331 million to the local economy.

Governor's race will get expensive

Eric Scheizig from the TN Journal reported more than $6.8 million has been raised from outside sources and $5 million has been spent in Tennessee's upcoming gubernatorial election.
