MWRD Community Affairs will be raising funds through their Red Nose Donation Store to support organizations aiming to end child poverty and to support the families who were affected by the devastating tornado outbreak that occurred in Nashville and surrounding areas on March 3.
Funds raised through the MWRDCA Red Nose Donation Store will be evenly split between the Red Nose Day Fund, Hands-On Nashville, and the American Red Cross of Tennessee. The campaign will run from March 15, 2020 to National Red Nose Day on May 21, 2020.
MWRDCA is encouraging the Murfreesboro community to get involved in this amazing cause as donations will go toward providing impoverished children and their families with food, shelter, books, clothing, access to education, and medical and dental care. The greater purpose of the Red Nose Day campaign is to ensure children in need are safe, healthy, and educated, addressing both the short-term needs of children living in poverty and helping break the cycle to foster long term change for a better future.
And why the red nose, you may ask? The Red Nose is the campaign’s calling card. It’s simple, universal and a fun way to create connections and break through barriers. A Red Nose encourages people to come together, share a laugh, and gives the world something to smile about. It’s a powerful way to start a conversation about Red Nose Day and its goal: to end child poverty one nose at a time.
Children and young people who benefit from Red Nose Day-supported programs span all 50 states, Puerto Rico and some of the poorest communities across Latin America, Africa and Asia. Since launching in the US in 2015, Red Nose Day has raised $200 million and positively impacted the lives of nearly 25 million children.
