Murfreesboro Police: Information sought in overnight shooting

A Murfreesboro man who has survived gun violence in the past is shot yet again overnight.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired around 2:15 a.m. at Greenland East Apartments, 816 Greenland Drive, and found the victim, Darnell "Deuce" Mayer, 49, of Murfreesboro, laying in front of the complex with multiple gunshot wounds.

Personnel with Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS), with assistance from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department, began treating Mayer on scene. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center via Life Flight helicopter where he underwent surgery. He is listed in stable condition.

Detectives are looking for the shooter and a dark colored sedan seen speeding away after the shooting.
