Witnesses said two sets of gunshots broke the quiet of Saturday night, Dec. 29.

Henrietta Hill told WKRN she and her children dropped to the floor of their West Lokey home when they heard the gunfire.

"I didn’t know which way they were coming from, I just knew they were close, and I just knew I didn’t want us to get hit. So I made them get on the ground. I didn’t want nobody to get hit by a stray bullet, that was my main concern," she said in the  WKRN interview.

When Hill went outside to investigate, she found one gunman laying dead next to her driveway, according to the incident report.

"It was hard for me when I saw him," Hill said in the interview. "I’m not going lie. I did cry because it was like scary... because I’ve never seen anything like this. I was upset."

The victim was identified as Christopher Campbell and the man who reportedly shot him is in custody and charged with second-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to an arrest report from MPD.

According to witnesses, it was around 7 p.m. when Campbell shot at Calvin Miles, who was at the Greystone Apartments on Lokey Street. His brother Jarvis Miles, 24, of Nashville returned fire, killing Campbell.

Jarvis Miles was interviewed by police that evening and taken into custody.

Calvin Miles was struck several times. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.

Jarvis Miles, pictured above, has previous felony convictions for robbery and burglary in Davidson County.
