A 40-year-old Murfreesboro man was arrested Friday, July 20 after a mail carrier alerted police to a "suspicious package," according to an arrest report from the Murfreesboro Police Department.

Joseph H. Johnson, 40, of Old Lascassas Pike was charged with felony drug possession. He was booked and later released from the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on $4,500 bond.

The arrest came following MPD officers following up on a tip from a mail carrier that a package might contain illegal drugs.

Officers arrived at an apartment complex on Old Lascassas Pike and spoke with Johnson's girlfriend, who gave them consent to search the apartment, according to the report.

"At first, Mr. Johnson stated he was unsure of the contents but consented to (an officer) opening it. There was approximately 8.6 oz. of marijuana, numerour containers of hash and hash oil, along with marijuana cream products," the report said.

Johnson, who listed his place of employment as a ride-sharing service, claimed ownership and was arrested.

He is set to appear Aug. 14 in General Sessions Court.
