Murfreesboro Football League opens registration for 2018 season

Murfreesboro Parks and Rec.’s youth football program, the longest-running youth football program in Rutherford County, is in the process of holding sign-ups for the upcoming season.

Divided into four divisions with an age limit of 5-13 years of age, as of Sept. 2, 2018, the 5- to 6-year-old and 7-to 8-year old divisions will play flag football. Ages 9-10 and 11-13 will play tackle football. All games will be either on a weeknight or Saturdays at McKnight Park Football Complex.

Registration will continue until July 31 with sign-up locations at Sports*Com, McFadden Community Center or Patterson Park Community Center. The fee is $70 per player. All ages will participate in player evaluations at Oakland High School indoor practice facility on either July 21 or July 28. Practices start August 13.

Also part of the youth football season is the Murfreesboro Parks and Rec.’s Youth Cheerleading program. Age limits for the cheerleaders is 6-13 years old and the same sign-up locations as the youth football players.

The fee for the cheerleaders is $30 for the program plus $45 for the uniforms. Uniform sizing will take place July 21 or July 28 at Oakland High School indoor practice facility. Practice will start on Aug. 13.

Registration for youth football and cheerleading program will also take place, in addition to the above locations, at the Oakland High School indoor practice facility on July 21 and July 28.
