Dr. Guanping Zheng will offer a free workshop on Understanding Chinese Painting from 3-4:15 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at The Center for the Arts, 110 W. College St. in Murfreesboro.

Chinese brush painting has been around for three thousand years. The artistic style reveals traditional Chinese philosophy and reflects China's social and cultural change.

In this workshop, Zheng, associate provost and a professor at MTSU's Media Art Department who is known for Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, discusses the uniqueness of Chinese traditional painting and ways to appreciate it.

This event is a continuation of the inaugural Murfreesboro Festival of Chinese Arts.
