Murfreesboro Mama: 3 Ice Skating Experiences in the City

Dec 07, 2021 at 10:00 am by Laura Beth Payne

Ready to celebrate the season on the ice? Head out to these family-friendly spots for magical memories.

1. The Ice Rink at World Outreach Church

This FREE skate rink experience will be open to the public from early December through January! Bring your family and friends and come enjoy some time on the ice! All participants must have completed the online waver before entering the skating area. Public skate times will be posted weekly on the WOC page. Skating slots are available on a first come/first serve basis. Parking will be in Lot B, the closest lot to the skate rink. Children must be three years old to skate, and adults bringing children 12 and under must fill out a waiver to assist them with equipment. wochurch.org/event/ice-rink

2. Winterfest at Fountains at Gateway

A favorite tradition around here (especially when you include  a hot burger from adjacent Burger Republic,  or a decadent sundae from The Soda Bar), Fountains Winterfest is a memorable way to take on the ice for the first-- or thousandth-- time. Kids 3 and under are free, kids 4-12 are $12, and big kids (yes, that's you, Mom and Dad!) are $15. Tickets provide one skate rental and an hour and a half of ice time. Times and details are on the website and on Fountains Gateway social pages. fountainswinterfest.com

3. Veterans Memorial Park

Test out the La Vergne Parks Department's newly purchased ice skating rink at Veterans Memorial Park this year! Families can get skates and about 45 minutes of skate time with a canned food or toy donation. Registration on lavergnetn.gov is recommended but not required. The skating rink is open from 4-8 p.m. beginning on Nov. 30 and will wrap up on Dec. 11 with the city's Parade of Lights and tree lighting ceremony. Click here for hours and rules.
