Old Henry 2021

The Must See Movie of the Week is "Old Henry."

When I first looked into this movie, I thought it would be a story about a wonderful dog or the candy bar, I could not have been more incorrect.

Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, and staring Tim Blake Nelson, Scott Haze, Gavin Lewis and others (lots of beautiful horses), this is a thriller action film about a poor farmer and his son who take in an injured man. However, all is not what it seems. Who is this injured man, and why are people after him, and who are these people? At first, I thought, this is a great movie about the hardships of settling the American West, I was wrong again.

This movie does not drag, it has tidbits of information hiding in every shot. The viewer becomes involved in the film, cheering on the good guys, but are they really good, who knows? There are so many innuendos and hidden meanings that are acted out beautifully leaving the audience wondering what will possibly happen next. And the ending .... OMGoodness ... I was on my feet staring at my husband saying: "No Way, No Way."

Family friendly – maybe, people do get shot.

Film festivals have given accolades to the film. The Almeria Western Film Festival 2021 awarded Tim Blake Nelson the Grand the Jury Award for Best Actor and director Potsy Ponciroli for Best Feature. It was nominated for the Graffetta d'Oro for Best Film award at the Venice Film Festival 2021.
