Must See Movie of the Week: Annette

This week's Must See Movie of the Week, Annette, is an unconventional movie is a film, a musical, and an open theater meets the Rocky Horror Picture Show with audience participation.

I really was not quite prepared for this peculiar film, thus worth recommending viewing to others because of the oddity. The film is a bit lengthy, approximately 2 hours, 20 minutes with few drags and gaps.

The film is about a stand-up comedian played by Adam Driver (Star Wars bad boy) and an opera singer played Marion Cotillard falling in love. The film can become sexually graphic, but for mature adult audiences, the scenes are beautiful and presented affectionately.

At first, I thought this would be more of a chick flick, but could not have been more incorrect. I would view this film with my husband because he respects art, but not with minor children, as the language and sex scenes are explicit.

This film is unique and rather peculiar, thus I researched other films by the director Leos Carax for his particular nuances he brings to his work. The film is entertainment and pure theatre. I would like to see it at the Oscars, but sadly eccentricity does not seem to win awards.

A must-see, maybe not, but well worth a diverse and extraordinary experience, certainly.
