Our local Big Fluffy Dog Rescue is in need of your assistance. Their dedicated rescuers just picked up 16 small breed dogs, mostly Yorkie and their mixes, most are seniors and in terrible condition from over breeding from a hording situation this week.

Some of these girls have been bred so many times, they have prolapses, luxating patellas, mammary tumors rotten teeth, skin, kidney and liver issues, and many tumors. Medical fees just for these 16 dogs can be as high as $30,000 or more to get the dogs healthy for adoption.

Just an FYI, when people wish to buy dogs from breeders, and in today's environment of designer dogs like Yorkie poos, malti poos, labradoodles, etc., backdoor breeders make a tax-free fortune on the desire for humans for a cute puppy.

However, here are the facts: There are a small handful of legitimate breeders that work with other breeders for the love and perfection of the breed. However, there are more than you can even imagine out there that breed and over breed for an steady income.

While some humans may not find this any big deal, it is. The females are overbred, which cuts their life span in half, they live in filth, not given proper medical care or nutrition, and are kept pregnant until they are no longer useful. When no longer useful they are thrown away. Many are killed, some are tossed away on the side of the road, and some are rescued/saved.

Life in a puppy mill is horrendous, and I believe it would surprise you who and what organizations run many local puppy mills. If you travel through Kentucky and Ohio, the Amish seem to have a corner on the market. I have seen first hand the horrible conditions of puppy mills in Ohio and talked to the owners, who had zero remorse or conscience about their activities. I also witnessed diseased dogs caring for puppies and the mothers looked like they were on their last breath. If you ever want a reality check, visit a puppy mill, you may never sleep again.
