One inmate at the Rutherford County Detention Center died Sunday at a Nashville hospital after being involved in a fight with another inmate Saturday, Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh said.

“Deputies responded to the fight immediately with medical staff nurses who began treatment,” Fitzhugh said. “Emergency Medical Services paramedics transported the inmate to Skyline Medical Center where he died later from his injuries.”

The 29-year-old inmate'd family was notified of his death.

“We extend sympathy to the family on the death of their loved one,” Fitzhugh said.

Fitzhugh requested Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents to investigate the inmate’s death.

Because of the TBI’s investigation, the sheriff’s office is not releasing additional details at this time.

They were known as 'rough rides' in the Baltimore Police Department. Remember Freddie Gray's death. Should they be called 'long rides' here in Rutherford County? Jose Ramos Mendoza, the inmate that died, why wasn't he transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital just 3.3 miles away? TriStar Skyline Medical Center, north of Nashville, was 38.6 miles away. Could it be that the criminals running the Sheriff's Office didn't want the inmate to survive and tell what actually happened during fight. We'll never know now. I've seen this before. Elmer Isrrael Raymos, Kittrell Shooting, an immigrant shot to death by RCSO deputies. It was Trey Nunley's statement that justified the shooting. I can prove in court that Nunley has no credibility. It would have to be a federal court though, as the 16th Judicial District, run by good 'ol boy Jennings Jones, is participating RCSO cover-ups. Another question: Does the medical transport vehicle have a blackbox or GPS tracking? Maybe data stored during the 'long ride' to TriStar would reveal a deliberate effort to further delay arrival to the emergency room by driving slowly. Was it a Rutherford County EMS ambulance that transported the critical inmate to north Nashville?
