Regardless of where you live, you'll enjoy the poems and images in the "Murfreesboro Majesty" wall calendar

Over 40 local poets and photographers are featured in a 2021 wall calendar available for pre-order through Friday, 11/20.

The calendar is a project of Poetry in the Boro, whose mission is to support and better connect our community's unique voices. Murfreesboro Poet Laureate Amie Whittemore and her predecessor, inaugural Poet Laureate Kory Wells, organized the creative effort.

Each month showcases a featured poem, a featured photo, and one or two haiku or other short form poems.

In addition to highlighting the creative "richness of Rutherford" promoted by groups such as the Rutherford Arts Alliance and the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce/Convention and Visitors Bureau, organizers say they hope the calendar will become a self-sustaining annual project that contributes to the local arts economy. This year's contributors are being paid a stipend funded in part by an Academy of American Poets fellowship Whittemore received.

Pre-orders are highly recommended and quantity discounts are available. Visit poetryintheboro.org/murfreesboro-calendar/ to learn more and place an order.

Founded in 2016, Poetry in the Boro offers a monthly open mic and reading series, occasional workshops, and more. The group welcomes all styles of poetry and spoken word.
