A team of 30 students from Stewarts Creek and Smyrna High Schools’ video production programs will work with the Town of Smyrna’s media services personnel to broadcast the October 30th Smyrna vs. Stewarts Creek football game live on Stewarts Creek TV and multiple Town of Smyrna platforms.

Town of Smyrna Manager Brian D. Hercules understands the value of workforce development and creating opportunities within the town to provide real-world experience for students. "Chris Bissinger (SCHS video production instructor) shares our philosophy and seeks out opportunities that bring value to his students and to our community," explained Hercules.  "With the limited number of tickets available for purchase, residents who cannot attend the game have the opportunity to watch from the comfort of their homes.  We are excited to watch the students in action."

Every aspect of the game’s broadcast is student led. "These students have handled all elements of this project," shared Bissinger.  "From site planning and advancing, content creation, technical preparation, graphic design, and equipment prep and inventory, this broadcast is a result of their effort. It is a tremendous opportunity for students to gain experience in the audio-visual career pathway."

The Tennessee Department of Education provides the framework for pathways of study that are grouped by the knowledge and skills required for occupations in career fields. Students involved in this production have selected this pathway of study in their respective high school.

Anyone wishing to watch the live broadcast can do so in the following ways:

  • Stewarts Creek TV on YouTube
  • Town of Smyrna’s Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page       (@smyrnatnparksandrecreation)
