Liz "Ebby" Jernigan never met a stranger, said Coordinator E.T. Guice of the Sheriff’s Senior Citizens Awareness Network.

SCAN volunteers are mourning at the death of SCAN member Jernigan, who lost her life in pedestrian crash Friday night in Murfreesboro.

Guice said Jernigan loved to talk and attended all the SCAN picnics and events.

"She loved to sing for Sheriff (Mike) Fitzhugh," Guice said, remembering one picnic where Jernigan broke out in a gospel song for him.

SCAN Volunteer Phil Barnett said the group worked with Interfaith Dental to donate false teeth to her.

"They loved her," Barnett said.

Jernigan credited her false teeth as helping her sing better.

She was also known as "Granny" and spent many days visiting at the Journey Home.

"She was loved by all," Guice said.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Journey Home or Fair Haven Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Please leave online condolences at www.jenningsandayers.com.
