The Exchange Club of Murfreesboro donated $2,500 to the City Schools of Murfreesboro Foundation. The presentation was made to Lisa Trail, Communications Director for Murfreesboro City Schools on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The City Schools Foundation benefits Murfreesboro City Schools' 9,000 plus pre-K through 6th-grade students and serves as a venue for other foundations and corporations to make significant contributions that can impact the school system as a whole. The intent is to bring local resources to bear on local needs. The group was chartered in 2005.

The Foundation's goals are to boost the school system's financial support in the areas of science and math, academic competition and excellence among students, and to address financial parity in all schools.

The Excellence in Education Gala is set for Jan. 24. The 2020 Gala will spotlight Discovery School. Discovery School is an academic magnet school and home to approximately 400 students located on Middle Tennessee Boulevard. Collier Andress Smith will be the 2020 Excellence in Education Gala Honoree! The Exchange Club of Murfreesboro is honored to be a sponsor of this event.

The Exchange Club of Murfreesboro was chartered in 1951 in order to serve the community in various ways to make Murfreesboro a better place to live.
