Brian D. Hercules, Town Manager, is pleased to announce Charles N. King as the new engineer for the Town of Smyrna. King assumed this role on Nov. 4.
The engineer will be tasked with providing consultation to the Town Manager and council members on new development activities.
"Smyrna is a rapidly growing community," Hercules said. "It is essential that we have a civil engineer dedicated to serving our community with vision. Charles’ education and experience will allow him to effectively lead our engineering department in maintaining and growing our infrastructure."
Prior to joining the Town of Smyrna, King served as a Senior Project Manager with Collier Engineering Company, where he worked with cities and counties to address transportation needs. King began his career with the Tennessee Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer. During his time with TDOT, King worked in bridge design, traffic forecasting and statistics, traffic engineering, maintenance, and state aid.
Graduating from Vanderbilt with a degree in Civil Engineering, King is excited to serve his community in this role.
"I am a proud resident of Smyrna. This is a progressive community that remains a small town at heart. I look forward to the opportunity to serve in this capacity," he said.
