Longtime Communications Director of CityTV Alan Bozeman recently received the 2019 "Brian Wilson Memorial Award for Programming Excellence" from NATOA.

The award is presented annually to a government television programmer for displaying the leadership and values that Brian practiced during his years of dedicated service. The annual award was first presented in 2004.

Murfreesboro's CityTV was again recognized nationally for quality government television programming at the annual National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) conference.

Murfreesboro's government-oriented television station received national awards during the 34th annual Government Programming Awards presented by NATOA. The winners were announced during a gala Sept. 26, 2019, in Tampa, FL.

"The CityTV team is a dedicated and award-winning group of professionals who daily communicates the many positive aspects of the City of Murfreesboro," said Communications Director Alan Bozeman. "Yearly winning recognition from NATOA is a reflection of that professionalism."

  • Awards of Honor were presented to Video Producer John Padgett who earned two Honors for "Innovative Use of Video" on Barfield Crescent Park and "Public Service Announcement" on the Discovery Center;
  • Murfreesboro's CityTV brought home an Award of Distinction in NATOA's category for "Public Safety—Emergency Preparedness" produced by Michael Nevills.

Each year, NATOA receives entries submitted by local governments across the country.

The awards program honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. A national trade association based in Alexandria, Virginia, NATOA represents local government jurisdictions and consortiums, including elected and appointed officials and staff, who oversee communications and cable television franchising.
