Murfreesboro Police: Victim identified in Aug. 2 shooting, shooter evades capture

The Murfreesboro Police Department has launched an investigation into a fatal shooting of man, in his late 20s, overnight Aug. 2 and is trying to track down the shooter who stole the victim's vehicle.

Around 3:12 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, officers responded to the Villager Condominiums, 2850 Middle Tennessee Blvd., after receiving a call from a neighbor who heard multiple gunshots and saw the male victim laying on the sidewalk.

The victim in the fatal shooting has been identified as Terrell Edward Ray, 30, of Antioch.  

Personnel with the Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS), with assistance from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department, began treating Ray on scene. The victim was transported by RCEMS to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Detectives have recovered the stolen vehicle.

The shooter remains on the run.

The incident is being investigated by detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division.
