For the ninth time in the last 12 years, Middle Tennessee men's golf is headed to an NCAA Regional after earning an automatic bid with their second consecutive Conference USA Championship. The Blue Raiders were selected as the No. 12 seed in the Myrtle Beach Regional as announced Wednesday evening on Golf Channel.

The Blue Raiders will be one of 14 teams participating in the Myrtle Beach Regional hosted by Coastal Carolina on May 13-15. The regional will be played at TPC Myrtle Beach.

Middle Tennessee's competition in Myrtle Beach includes No. 4 ranked Wake Forest, No. 8 California, No. 18 Texas Tech, No. 23 Illinois and No. 25 ranked Florida State.

"I'm very excited for us to be going back to South Caroline for regionals," head coach Mark McEntire said. "It's a good golf course for us. A tough golf course, but one that has a good value of par.

The 2019 selection is the 10th NCAA berth for the Blue Raiders since regional format began in 1989 with six of those being at-large selections. The Blue Raiders also made NCAA Regional appearances in 2000, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2018. In 2008, Middle Tennessee advanced all the way to the NCAA Championships where it finished 15th nationally.

"I'm happy that the program didn't take a lull through the transition this summer and fall," McEntire added. "We are proud we could immediately continue the traditions of this program with another postseason appearance."

The Blue Raiders' lineup will include seniors Marcus Byrd and James Beckner, junior Tanner Owens, sophomore Cooper Sears and freshman Palmer Sadlowski.

The Top 5 teams from each of the six regionals will advance to the NCAA National Championships on May 24-29 at The Blessings Club in Fayetteville, Ark.

"We're going to need a complete team effort out of our guys to keep moving on, but we have the talent," McEntire concluded. "We'll need all five of our guys to reach their full potential and really keep riding the momentum from winning the conference championship."
