Flooded Roads

Twenty-five roads are closed Monday morning because of flood waters, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

February is officially the wettest on record with 13.47 inches measured by the National Weather Service's Nashville office.

Over the course of the weekend, at least one Rutherford County driver was rescued from flood waters. The driver did not turn around and ignored a barricade on Sulphur Springs Road and almost drowned around 2:30 a.m. Feb. 23.

Flood waters also threatened houses in the Royal Glen and Kimbro Woods subdivisions, as well as across Rutherford County. In Kimbro Woods, the water and sewer division responded with pump trucks to alleviate some flooding.

The good news is the West Fork of the Stones River at the Waste Water treatment plant near Sulphur Springs Road has crested. It reached 18.82 feet around mid-day Sunday but had receded to 5.66 feet by Monday morning.
