The woman found near the railroad tracks near the Patterson Avenue and Old Salem Road intersection has been identified, according to a press release from the Murfreesboro Police Department. 

She has since been identified as Valerie Jane Schneider, 42. There were no obvious injuries and no signs of foul play.

Her cause of death has not yet been determined, pending the outcome of the Medical Examiner’s Office investigation.

Around 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to a call of an unresponsive person in a wooded area adjacent to the railroad tracks near the Patterson Avenue and Old Salem Road intersection, according to a press release from MPD.

An adult female was located and was obviously deceased. Her cause of death as well as her identity is unknown at this time.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages at this time. More information will be released when it becomes available.
