One woman lost her life and two others were injured during a storm about midnight in the Christiana area, Rutherford County authorities said.

"It's with great sadness we report the passing of Angie Walker in the Tuesday morning storm that occurred in Christiana," WGNS Radio reported. Walker, 41, is an MTSU adjunct professor of psychology and the wife of WGNS President Scott Walker.

Emergency responders are canvassing the area to assess any other damages this morning.

Paramedics treated the injured victims who were taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital and one was transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Three homes were destroyed by the storm, including a mobile home, and Rutherford Fire Rescue battled a house fire on Barley Drive believed struck by lightning.

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Cooperative workers were restoring electricity while Rutherford County Highway Department employees were clearing the roads.

Midland-Fosterville Road, Rock Springs Road and Midland Road were closed while crews checked home and damage.

People are asked to avoid the areas until cleared.
