Last week, we were a respectable 4-2. That brings my record to 24-12 on the year.
Who knows what Saturday holds, but if I tank these six picks, some crazy stuff will have transpired over the weekend.
No. 14 Florida @ Vandy, 11:00 am, ESPN – I was wrong about Florida. There, I said it. Dead wrong, in fact. This Gators team, however, will have to guard against a letdown following last week’s big win over LSU. I’m thinking this one is closer than the experts are saying. Gators 23-20
Tennessee @ No. 21 Auburn, 11:00 am, SEC Network – Auburn is an enigma wrapped in a puzzle. Tennessee is terrible on offense but getting better on defense. This one will be closer than the current 15-point line, but there’s no way a sane person can pick UT in this one. War Eagle 26-18
No. 2 Georgia @ No. 13 LSU, 2:30 pm, CBS – Gargantuan matchup between two of the SEC’s best on Saturday in Baton Rouge. This one would be far more entertaining at night, however. Still, I’m guessing there will be plenty of daytime fireworks. Dawgs 31-23
Missouri @ No. 1 Alabama, 6:00 pm, ESPN – Can anyone challenge Alabama? Maybe Georgia, but definitely not Missouri. Tide 63-24
No. 15 Wisconsin @ No. 12 Michigan, 6:30 pm, ABC – The Non-Southern Game of the Week caught my eye primarily because the No. 12 team in the nation opened as a 6.5-point favorite at home over the No. 15 team in the nation. Then the line grew to 10-points. If you’re paying attention to trends, that’s a hard one to ignore. Wolverines 27-17
Middle Tennessee @ Florida International, 6:30 pm, beIN Sports – The way the Blue Raiders have responded on the field the last two weeks has given me a new appreciation for the coaches and players in the program. It’s too early to label them “comeback kids” because I think they’ll put together four good quarters Saturday night. MTSU 34-24
