From Oct. 4:

A Rutherford County school resource officer was charged with public intoxication Wednesday by Murfreesboro Police.

SRO Daniel Thomas is assigned to Holloway High School.

Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh said Thomas was placed on administrative leave after the arrest. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Thomas was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and was released on $250 bond. A hearing is set Jan. 24 in General Sessions Court.

According to an arrest report from the Murfreesboro Police Department, Officer Jeffery Carroll was called to Embassy Suites around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 because of a report of an intoxicated subject who was sitting at the bar and puking into a trash can.

An employee said the man, later identified as Thomas "caused a disturbance in the lobby with a guest and then refused to leave the bar," the report said.

The bartender refused to serve Thomas more alcohol because he was so drunk before he started vomiting into the trash can, the report said.

"While walking to my vehicle, Mr. Thomas attempted to exit a sliding glass door but ran into a closed glass door," Carroll reported.

Thomas was then arrested for public intoxication.

On Monday, Fitzhugh fired Michael Dandre Brooks, 23, of Readyville, an Adult Detention Center deputy who was charged with domestic assault of his former girlfriend.
