The Pick Six: Sweet Redemption Edition

When you live by the upset special, you die by the upset special.

Last week, I picked both MTSU and Tennessee to upset their respective opponents. Both teams lost by a combined 54 points.

Hey, no one said I was an expert.

Those two wrong picks along with Michigan losing at Notre Dame and LSU pounding Miami landed my record at 2-4 after one week.

Luckily, no one took the challenge to pick against me in the comments section. If you had, I'd really be embarrassed. Thankfully, there are lackluster weeks like this one to make up lost ground.

Nevada @ Vanderbilt, SEC Network, Saturday 11:00 -  I woefully underestimated Vandy last weekend. Despite the line tightening from 9.5 to 3, the Commodores took care of business against MTSU. This week, Colin Kaepernick's alma mater comes to Nashville. Nevada's Wolfpack will have slightly less success in Nashville than their former quarterback's new Nike ad campaign. 'Dores 30-21

#3 Georgia @ #24 South Carolina, CBS, Saturday 2:30 - This series has been fun to watch over the years. This week should be no different. We will likely find out what both teams are made of in this one. The Gamecocks might just be the second best team in the SEC East this season. Going up against the overwhelming SEC East favorite Bulldogs will be their measuring stick. Dawgs 24-10

ETSU @ Tennessee, SEC Network, Saturday 3:00 - Tennessee's opening week disaster in Charlotte was not for the faint of heart. The Vols secondary looked like the Keystone Cops against Heisman candidate QB Will Grier. Tennessee's defensive line was awful as well. Vols running back Tim Jordan and sophomore quarterback Jarrett Guarantano, however, looked really good at times. They'll take out some frustration this week. Tennessee 45-17

UT Martin @ MTSU - ESPN+, Saturday 6:00 - It was a rough Saturday night in Nashville for the Blue Raiders last week. At times, it appeared MTSU was going to give Vandy all they could handle, but it was not to be as the 'Dores scored in bunches late to win 35-7. UT Martin coming to town is just what the doctor ordered for a week two matchup. MTSU 35-13

#2 Clemson @ Texas A&M, ESPN, Saturday 6:00 - New Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher is no stranger to Clemson. The former Florida State head man has faced the Tigers eight times, his team winning four of those games. Clemson has an opportunity to show America what they're made of early in the season with a tough road game at College Station. Clemson will show why they're No. 2 in the country. Tigers 27-14

#17 USC @ #10 Stanford, FOX, Saturday 7:30 - The best non-southern matchup of the week takes place in Palo Alto, California. USC true freshman quarterback JT Daniels should be a high school senior this season, but through hard work and dedication, he graduated early. Now, he has to face Stanford and Heisman candidate Bryce Love in week two of the season. Daniel's youth will show early and often. Cardinal 35-20
