Murfreesboro man charged with murder in Saturday stabbing

A fight turned deadly in Murfreesboro around 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, according to a press release from the Murfreesboro Police Department.

MPD Officers responded to a call of a stabbing in the parking area of 338 Jackson St. Upon arrival officers found Drew Cronin, 31, of Murfreesboro suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Cronin was treated on scene by Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department personnel and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services who then transported to the Murfreesboro Airport for LifeFlight transfer to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The victim was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt.

Witnesses reported the victim and a suspect, later identified as Timmy Davis Jr. (above), had been in a physical altercation and the suspect had stabbed the victim multiple times prior to fleeing the area.

Davis, 38, was later located by uniform patrol officers and taken into custody.

Davis has been booked into the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department and charged with second-degree murder. He is being held without bond.
