The Town of Smyrna will fill a vacated Council Member position. 

The town's charter states that a person who is selected to fill a vacated position will occupy that role until the next election cycle. The person selected for this vacated Council Member position may run in that election if they choose to do so.

Qualifications For Office

No other person shall be eligible for the office of mayor and council member at large unless he/she shall have been for at least one year next preceding his/her election a resident of the Town of Smyrna.

No person shall become mayor or council member who has been convicted of malfeasance in office or a crime involving moral turpitude.

No council member shall hold any other elected public office or other town office or employment during the term for which the member was elected to the council.
