55 And Older Communities In Murfreesboro

There are several communities in Murfreesboro that are perfect for the 55 and older homeowner who is ready to enjoy a maintenance-free lifestyle. There are only two, however, that are legally designated 55+ Communities. This requires that 80% of the residents must be 55 and older. Those two are River Rock Crossing and The Cottages at Innsbrooke. But there are also many communities that are ideal.

Here are details on the two legally recognized communities as well as other great options.

River Rock Crossing

This is the oldest 55+ community and is located on the West side of Murfreesboro. It consists of 64 residences. These patio style homes are attached to one another in a “duplex type” configuration. The units are all brick, are between 1,200 and 2,000 square feet, and are in the range of $145,000 to $215,000. River Rock Crossing is convenient to interstate and is in close proximity to groceries, shopping, and restaurants.

The Cottages at Innsbrooke

The second 55 and older community is on the South side of Murfreesboro. Insbrooke Crossing consists of 1,200 to 2,000 square feet attached garden homes. All plans are one story and the property offers a community center perfect for events and gatherings.

Other Possibilities

There are many developments that are perfect for senior living even though they are not technically 55+ communities. In west Murfreesboro, you will find The Crossing at Salem Cove, Stonehenge, Cason Crossings, and Stonebrook communities.

The south side offers The Crossings at Indian Hills, The Crossings at Savannah Ridge, and Innsbrooke Crossing. These are all great areas with good HOAs in place to ensure a well-kept community and a low maintenance lifestyle.

The east side boasts Rockbridge Cove and is one of my favorites. Ole South Builders is currently building patio homes in Rockbridge Cove, which feature high-end finishes and 10-foot ceilings.

The north side is home to some well-established condos like Georgetown and Forrest Oaks. Georgetown is conveniently located on Northfield Boulevard and offers tennis courts and a pool. These condos usually do not last long on the market and they sell in the range of $250,000 to $375,000.

Forest Oaks was constructed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. This community also includes a pool and tennis courts and is more affordable with prices ranging from $150,000 to $220,000. The Retreat at Northwoods is a newer option for the north Murfreesboro area and they still have units under construction and range from $250,000 to $350,000.
