Rutherford County, TN - Rutherford County Government has received donations totaling nearly $17,000 to pack and distribute meals to families facing food insecurity. According to the USDA Household Food Security in the United States 2021 report, Tennessee has 11.2% of families dealing with a food insecurity issue.
Private sector sponsors include Rogers Group, Inc., Smyrna Ready Mix, and Wright Brothers. Nick DiBartolo, Rogers Group, Inc. Vice President of Construction Central Tennessee presented Mayor Joe Carr with a check for the food packing event.
DiBartolo said, “Rogers Group is passionate about giving back to the communities in which we live and work. Helping fund and assisting with service opportunities like the county’s meal packing event is just one of the ways we thank our local friends and neighbors and empower their communities.”
It will be a time where neighbors help neighbors as Rutherford County employees join with MTSU graduates Aaron and Emily Cox of Meals of Hope of Tennessee for the food packing event slated for March 11. Employees will try to pack over 50,000 meals.
