On Monday, General Motors celebrated a key milestone as the automaker launched the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ at its Spring Hill, Tennessee, assembly plant.

Governor Bill Lee and TNECD Commissioner Bob Rolfe joined GM President Mark Reuss, Cadillac Vice President Rory Harvey, U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty, Congressman Scott DesJarlais and other state and local leaders at the launch, which occurred nine months ahead of schedule.

According to GM, reservations for the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ Debut Edition sold out in roughly 10 minutes last summer. Cadillac will resume taking orders for the 2023 LYRIQ on May 19.

In October 2020, GM announced it would invest $2 billion in its Spring Hill assembly plant to begin the transition to become the company’s third electric vehicle manufacturing site, and the first outside of the state of Michigan. In addition to the fully electric Cadillac LYRIQ, GM continues to assemble the Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6 and GMC Acadia in Spring Hill.
