Democratic candidate Noelle Bivens, who is running for U.S. House District 4, urges voters to get registered and vote in August. Bivens faces Christopher Hale in the primary to eventually face incumbent Scott DesJarlais, R-Jasper.

"Tennessee ranks 49th in voter turnout, primarily because people think no-one in power listens to them and that their votes don't count," Bivens asserted. "I'm here to tell them their votes do count. And I hear their struggles."

Raised in Middle Tennessee, Bivens found the volunteer spirit at a young age, driving her to passionately champion for justice from coast to coast. Working tirelessly to affect change on issues like climate change, LGBTQ+ and workers' rights, and economic and food insecurity, her strong coalition-building and organizing skills as an activist serve her well in fighting for those in need, regardless of party or district location. The 2020 U.S. Congressional race is Bivens' first election as a candidate for any office.

Bivens said she entered the race after seeing the clear lack of representation by the current U.S. representive for District 4. Putting her activism on hold, Bivens turned to the campaign trail to fight for her neighbors in her first race for elected office.

"Everyone's vote matters, and with the movement we are seeing on the ground, our citizens are hungry for representation that reflects them and their values," Bivens said. "With their participation in the democratic process, we have the power to flip this district, sending shockwaves across Tennessee and the nation."
