Frontline employees at Middle Point Landfill and Republic Services get gift cards

Frontline employees at Middle Point Landfill and Republic Services' hauling divisions in Rutherford County will soon receive biweekly $100 gift cards, to be used at local businesses, as part of Republic's newly announced “Committed To Serve” initiative. The program is designed to support employees and their families, as well as Republic's small-business customers, during these unprecedented times.

“The well-being of our employees and this incredible community is our top priority right now,” said Jeremy Jernigan, general manager of Middle Point Landfill. “This program allows us to support them both during a difficult time.”

As previously announced, the Republic Services has also committed to providing locally purchased meals to employees, including a weekly lunch and a weekly dinner for employees and their families. Middle Point employees have enjoyed meals from The Alley on Main, Slick Pig BBQ, Kinfolks BBQ and Spooky's Pizza.

“Community support is always the lifeblood of a small business,” said Joe Peters, owner of Spooky's Pizza in Murfreesboro. “That's especially true in times like these. Circumstances certainly aren't what we want; but it's been great to see the community, and businesses like Middle Point, support local restaurants.”

In total, Republic Services has committed $20 million to its “Committed To Serve” program, supporting over 28,000 employees and communities nationwide.
