Rutherford County Schools will provide free breakfast and lunch during quarantine

Rutherford County Schools will provide breakfast and lunch to any child 18 and under at no charge beginning Tuesday, March 17, while the district is closed out of concern over the coronavirus.

Additionally, adults will also be served for $2 at breakfast and $3.80 for lunch. Exact change is needed for payment.

The Food Service Program will be located at 10 county schools situated throughout the district. All meals will be available at a drive though or walk up location at the each of the ten school sites and will be distributed for students to consume at home. There is no dine-in option.

Kittrell Elementary

Cedar Grove Elementary
Stewartsboro Elementary
Riverdale High

For the current week — Tuesday March 16 through Friday, March 20 — hot breakfast will be available for pick up from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and a hot lunch will be available for pick up as from 11 a.m. to noon. 

Beginning on Monday, March 23through Friday, March 27, Rutherford County Schools will serve sack meals that include breakfast and lunch. The sack meals will be available every day next week for pickup at any of the same 10 county schools from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Additionally, for families with children in need, RCS will have prepackaged meals to take home for the weekends available for pickup at all 10 county school sites on Fridays.

Hot meals are available for breakfast and lunch at their 1809 Memorial Blvd. location for the time being. They will also be giving out ATLAS weekend backpacks at their sites as well. People may call their local direct service site or call 615-203-3963.
