Murfreesboro preparing for emergency ahead of Covid-19

The Tennessee Department of Health continues to closely monitor Coronavirus (COVID-19) worldwide and in Tennessee. The City of Murfreesboro, in partnership, with local, state, and federal partners, is preparing for any emerging threat, officials with the city announced.  

The Tennessee Department of Health will issue a statewide advisory if authorities determine the virus has reached our state. The Tennessee Department of Health has activated the State Health Operations Center, which allows the department to maximize capacity and available resources.

In December 2019, Chinese health authorities identified an outbreak of pneumonia associated with a novel, or new, coronavirus which has resulted in thousands of confirmed cases in China. Additional cases have been identified in a growing number of other international locations, including the United States. The Department of Health recommends the following:  

  1. First and foremost, wash your hands frequently, especially after coughing or sneezing. And avoid touching your face, nose, and mouth.

  2. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  3. If you’re feeling ill, stay at home to protect others.
