Rutherford County landscape designers, Cody Jackson and Jennifer Reid of C Jackson Designs, met with Nashville Lawn and Garden Show board of directors, at the recently completed Expo Center at The Fairgrounds, on last week to discuss plans for this year's main garden exhibit.
Each year The Nashville Lawn and Garden Show has a theme for the main gardens. This will be the fifth year that C Jackson Designs, located in Rockvale, has created one of the main display gardens.
"[The] theme this year is 2020: Gardens in Focus. We're encouraging a new look at gardening – from vegetables to flowers, growing organically, how to be successful growing food or flowers in small spaces as well as in larger, traditional backyard gardens," said Randall Lantz, co-manager of the Nashville Lawn and Garden Show. "Based on this year's theme, we expect our designers to focus on a wide range of techniques and ideas to inspire and educate visitors. People are thinking about where their food comes from and ways to better conserve our resources. This year's Nashville Lawn and Garden Show will provide inspiration and learning opportunities that focus on these ideas."
The show, whose proceeds benefit more than two dozen community organizations, will take place Feb. 27-March 1 at The Fairgrounds Nashville, in the new Expo Center building.
Garden designers are given just three days to transform the empty expo center into a lush series of gardens made to excite even the most novice of gardeners.
C Jackson Designs is the smallest team creating a display garden this year, consisting of just two people, but this doesn't limit them; C Jackson Designs has won multiple awards at this show for their unique gardens, winning "Most Creative" in 2017 and "Best in Show" in 2018 for their geodesic dome design (pictured above).
When asked about what they plan to create with their 450-square-foot allotment, Cody Jackson replied, "Putting together ideas for these types of events provides a unique opportunity for us to express our creative abilities as a professional design-build firm. For this year's expo, I am planning to create a lush walk-through garden featuring a private outdoor nook with a living roof and a hanging-garden bar/lounge. Our garden design will feature elements of living plants, natural stone, handcrafted woodworking and integrated lighting pieces to demonstrate the wonderful possibilities of our distinctive style and craftsmanship."
