Rutherford County Assessor of Property

Rutherford County spends less than comparable counties to figure out how much properties are worth, according to data from the Rutherford County Property Assessor's office.

"Just one more reason Rutherford County citizens should be proud. The fastest growing county in Tennessee is also the most efficient when it comes to spending your tax dollars," Property Assessor Rob Mitchell said.

Below is a chart of the five largest counties in Tennessee and the counties which border Davidson County in Middle Tennessee.

The county which spends the most money per capita to administer the valuations of property values is Shelby county which is also the largest county by population and by square miles.

"What may surprise you is that Rutherford County spends the least amount per capita," Mitchell said.

In fact, Rutherford and Sumner counties spend almost half as much the top counties of Shelby and Davidson.
