Carnegie Hall

National Honor Choir student Caleb Shew, a senior from Riverdale High School, performed Sunday evening at Carnegie Hall.

Performers represented 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, several provinces of Canada, Australia, Bermuda, China, Hong Kong, Mexico, Poland, Qatar and South Korea for this high honor. They worked with some of the country’s top choral clinicians.

Shew was the only student from Rutherford County Schools selected to perform.

Shew persevered through the audition despite being diagnosed with cancer last summer, chemotherapy treatments through the Fall, and is now cancer-free.

He is a member of the Riverdale Singers and the school band along with being involved in several extra-curricular events. He is an All-State Choir student and is said to "excel at everything he does because of his incredible positive attitude," choir director Brenda Williams said.
